THINGS THAT DID SURPRISE ME
- People used the internet to complain about parents, because I thought they did that in person.
- Parents can monitor student activity on the web, because I didn't know that there were applications for that and they knew how it worked.
- Students can control what their parents can see, because I didn't know you could do that.
- Some teachers just don't care about sparknotes, because all my teachers do.
- Some teachers don't see sparknotes as cheating, because all of mine do.
- Myspace was VERY similar to FB today, because I thought it was different.
- Fights were only online, because I thought they were in person
- Sometimes fights start just because of online disputes, because I didn't know that kids cared so much about online disputes.
- Girls that are as young as 14 post almost pornographical photos of themselves, I thought that it started when they were much older.
- Parents are very involved in keeping their kids safe online, because I thought they didn't care
- Moms put computers in public places so they can watch everything, because I thought they didn't care
- Kids had competitions about who can have the most friends, because that sounds stupid.
- Most kids know to ignore predators, because I thought they weren't smart enough
- Girls have eating disorders because they want to be like someone they found online
- People have forums and things like that to make a problem better and not so bad because of online support.
THINGS THAT HAVE CHANGED SINCE THEN
- People switched from MySpace to Facebook
- People don't use email as much (personally)
- Cell phones are a lot more connected\
- The internet has lots more info
- Kids put a lot more info of themselves on the internet.
- Laptops are more popular.
- Twitter makes kids more addicted to the internet. \
- Kids have tablets
- Kids don't use text messages that much.
- There are lots more websites and apps.
- Kids trust their kids more.
- People overreacted a lot more back then
- Kids can now be bought online.
- A lot more things are wireless.
- There are lots more antivirus and things like that

The one that struck with me the most was the part where it talked about the kid whose parents were always trying to see what he was up to online. My parents also tried to do this when I was younger (maybe 10 or 11) but they failed, just like the dad in the film. It was easy for me to see what and when they were seeing my activity and avoid it. I'm not saying that I was trying to hide anything (because I wasn't looking at anything I wasn't supposed to) but I still felt a tad bit uncomfortable about them spying on me.
